Babe Watch - Meagan Cole Owner of Rise Up, Shine Bright

Babe Watch - Meagan Cole Owner of Rise Up, Shine Bright

Meagan Cole is the owner of Rise Up, Shine Bright, a brand, mentorship program, and an events business. I was in a mentorship program with Meagan and I remember the day she caught my attention because she was talking about hosting an event for over 100 women. I immediately thought this girl must be a badass and was intrigued. Meagan is a nurse, a mentor, a business owner, a mom, and a wife...and, on top of all of that, she is a darn good human trying to do amazing things in the world!

Meagan's brand is filled with comfy, cozy apparel in the cutest designs all bearing the Rise Up Shine Bright brand name. She also carries adorable accessories like mugs, notebooks, stickers, and more. The best part is that she ALWAYS donates 3% of her proceeds each month to a different charity that promotes empowerment in individuals. Amazing, right?! You can check out some of the charities she supports on her website.

And, even though being a nurse, mom, wife, apparel business owner is a huge accomplishment already, Meagan gives herself to others by offering mentorships and hosting events. Her mentorship, per her website, is described as: Kickstart Your Power is a self guided mini course designed to help you rise above your fear and self doubt and shine bright as the confident, empowered version of yourself you desire to be. She covers topics on limiting beliefs, mindset, and more.

To learn more about Meagan, her mission, and the awesome person she is, please check out her website and read her interview below! Her 5 Fun Facts were super interesting!

Why Did You Decide To Start Your Business?

I was in a network marketing business and fell in love with the community and the personal growth and development that was a big part of it, however I did not love the rest of it. As I continued to dive into the self development work I saw a huge change in myself, in a good way. I learned so much about mindset, our belief systems, fear, confidence, the list goes on. What I noticed was that most people in my life knew nothing about this world. I saw the gap so I started Rise Up Shine Bright as a platform for women to feel empowered and more confident as they step into the best version of themselves. Through events, apparel and now mentorship I have been able to share this message!

Do You Have a Blog, Podcast, or Youtube Channel? Tell Us About It!

Not yet! I hope to have a podcast one day and love being a guest on them.

What Is The Best Advice You Can Give to A Woman Starting Her Business Venture?

Just fail forward. Action cures fear! We get so caught up in waiting to FEEL ready, waiting for the right time, worried about the outcomes that often we don't even get started! If you just get started you learn so much along the way and realize that there are no failures it's just feedback and we are capable of SO MUCH MORE then we give ourselves credit for!

What Is Something Most People Don't Know About You?

That I'm 36 years old. Most people think I'm mid to late 20's. I hope it stays that way!

What Does Your Typical Day Look Like?

95% of my mornings start around 5:30-6am. I get up and spend about an hour filling up my cup with my routine. I drink coffee in peace, meditate, journal and read. I am a much better mom to my boys when I get up before them and do this for myself vs. them waking me up! It overflows into all areas of my life. Jay Shetty describes it best. He says your morning routine is like putting your emotional armour on for the day! It's a lot harder to get knocked down throughout the day when you have taken the time for yourself. After that it totally depends on the day as I have two boys under 5 and still work casual as a nurse but most days once they are all out the door I dive right into work.

In no particular order I am working on content, ordering supplies, filling orders, planning what's next, hoping on mentorship calls, running errands, making lots of trips to the post office!

My family is usually home by 4 and then it's family time until they boys are in bed. After that I usually do a few more things for my business or hop on a conference call for different group programs that I am a part of. Otherwise it's a short Netflix show with my hubby and in bed by 9:30. I am a baby grandma.

Who Are Some Women That Inspire You? (Globally and Locally)

Lindsey Schwartz owner of Powerhouse Women in Arizona and Emily King, The Rich Woman in NL, Canada, have both been my mentors over the last few years and have helped me get to where I am today. I would still be working full time shift work hating my life if it wasn't for investing in mentorship with them.

Gabby Bernstein is my all time favourite woman. She is spiritual, smart and grounded. She has taught me so much about meditation, fear, love, spirituality. I have read most of her books more then once.

What Was One Huge Business Flop or Problem That You Had to Endure and How Did You Handle That?

Have you heard of Covid 19? Like most businesses it totally changed things for me. Rise Up Shine Bright was originally created as an event business with apparel being a "little bonus on the side". The plan was to have 2 large events a year for 200-300 people. Obviously Covid changed that plan so we had to pivot, or like my mentor has called it - reimagine things. Initially I was really worried about what this business would now look like but then saw the potential it created. The extra time allowed me to dive into the apparel business and share this positive message in a time when people needed to hear it the most. I all of a sudden had more time to spend in my business to really grow our brand recognition as well as create my own mentorship program that is just launching.

Being a part of a mastermind during this time has helped me so much. Having the accountability of a coach and other women in the group has kept me on track. I honestly am not sure that I would have kept going if I didn't have them cheering me on and helping me see things in a new way. Mentorship has always been and will always be the best investment! When we are left on our own it's way too easy to quit!

What Accomplishment Are You Most Proud Of?

I'm really proud of myself for pushing through. For creating something out of nothing and following the path less travelled. I am super proud of Rise Up Shine Bright as a company and love watching it grow and touch people's lives in a way I never imagined.

What Do You Do For Self Care?

My morning routine 100%. Now that I have been doing to for so long I can't live without it. If I miss a day or two I get all out of sorts. Other then that I love hanging out with a friend for a coffee date, treating myself to a solo lunch or sending my kids to their grandparents for the weekend!

What Jobs Did You Work Before You Created Your Business? Tell Us Your Journey.

I have been a pediatric nurse for 13 years now in a number of different hospitals and currently work 1-2 shifts a week. Prior to that I worked as a server, a sales rep at a sports store and one of my first jobs was a ride operator at a theme park! I have always been a people person clearly. My most recent job prior to starting this business was as an Arbonne rep. That business taught me so much about team and relationship building, mentorship and basic business back end skills. It really was the stepping stone for me being a solo entrepreneur.

Give Us Five Fun Facts About You!

What Sign Are You? Are You Into Astrology?

I am a Libra! While I do not follow a lot of astrology I do feel the moon phases strongly and love using them as guidance in my personal and professional life.
