Babe Watch - Aubrey Moon - Senior Manager & Senior Master Trainer at Barre Code Detroit
Our Babe of the Week feature has truly given us the ability to feature such a wide variety of amazing women. Every week I sit down to write these and am so thankful that I am able to share a new, powerful woman with others. This week, we are featuring Aubrey Moon. Aubrey is a Senior Manager and Senior Master Trainer at The Barre Code Detroit, but she is also a wife, a mother, and an all-around badass female.
If you talk to Aubrey or look at her on social, you learn quickly that The Barre Code and her workouts are a passion of hers. So, what is The Barre Code you ask? Who better to explain than the source itself: The Barre Code website. "Clients of all fitness levels are welcome to discover our most efficient and results-driven fitness program that goes beyond the barre to offer three core formats: Barre, Bootcamp, and Brawl™ (a high energy kickboxing style class). Whether you are a fitness fanatic or just beginning your journey, you will find a class style that is perfect for you. Beginning in Chicago in 2010, The Barre Code has spent the past decade expanding nationally to over 60 locations and counting while motivating a community of over 200,000 members. Our mission to support and empower women led us to develop a franchising model in which motivated, entrepreneur-spirited individuals could take a fitness concept that positively impacted their lives and bring it to their local community."
Aubrey and the team had a unique situation as many gym owners did during the pandemic when gyms were ordered to close. How could they help women to follow their fitness journey when they couldn't offer classes inside their facility? Well, being innovative, the ladies took to social media to share tips, offered virtual fitness classes, and later offered outdoor classes when permitted. They took a situation that was so tough on the businesses of many and they used what they had to keep things going as much as possible. That dedication to helping women and offering a healthy, empowering release during one of the hardest times in our lives was so inspiring.

Where Do You See Yourself In 5 Years? In five years I still plan to be working with The Barre Code, training women to lead best-in-class fitness classes, empowering clients to love themselves from the inside out, and enjoying laughs with my co-workers and best friends. Outside of work, my kids will be 11 & 8 in five years (yikes!) so I'll likely be found at a baseball field or carpooling them from one thing to the next.
If You Could Tell Your Younger Self Something, What Would You Say?
Be kind to yourself and embrace your flaws. As a young woman, I felt so pressured to feel or look a certain way, thinking that would make people like me more. Now, I realize other people's opinions of me aren't my business and instead, focus on being true to myself first & foremost.
What Is Something Most People Don't Know About You? While I'm a very social person, I get super nervous and awkward in networking situations and cling to people I know.
What Does Your Typical Day Look Like? Days when I'm teaching: Wakeup at 4:30a (when teaching)/7a (when not teaching) | Coffee | Teach or prep for upcoming classes | Get kids ready for school | Answer Emails | Studio Maintenance | Play with kids/do homework | Make dinner | Get kids ready for bed | Watch trash TV/scroll IG for far too long
Who Are Some Women That Inspire You? (Globally and Locally) Lindsay Irrer & Janelle Herbert, co-owners of The Barre Code Metro Detroit & my besties. They embody what it means to support other women and encourage personal & professional growth. I've known them since college and appreciate their friendships more than ever after watching them navigate the (business) world in the last year.
Bethenny Frankel, founder of Skinny Girl Brand & former housewife RHONY. She's built an empire after starting at the bottom. She is a no-nonsense woman that tells it like it is, and owns her sh*t.
Erika Nardini, CEO of Barstool Sports. She's considered the "Token CEO" working as one of few if any, women CEOs in sports media. She leads by example and will always bet on herself. A woman that exudes confidence is unstoppable.
What One Thing Has Happened In Your Life That Most Shaped The Person You Became? Becoming a mother has shaped my life in an amazing way. It put things into perspective and led me to appreciate my body for all it's capable of, flaws and all. I've grown so much since I had my oldest son 6.5 years ago and have come into my own. I'm not afraid to say I'm a good mom and it's a job I was always meant to have.
What Accomplishment Are You Most Proud Of? I'm most proud of walking away from a steady income & job I enjoyed in order to take on a new career in a field I had never worked in before. Prior to the fitness industry, I worked in advertising, and while I liked my job, following my passion truly makes me feel like my work is not a job. I'm grateful every day to have a career that positively impacts those in our community; it makes me feel like I've found my calling to teach & train.
What Do You Do For Self Care? Working out is a daily form of self-care for me, but I also love to enjoy a cup of coffee first thing in the morning to start my day off with indulgence and silence. I also love to read.
What Is Something About You That Makes You A Good Friend? I'm dependable and always on time. If you ask me to do something, I will always get it done.
